Walter Francis is in his second year with the
Hawks. A standout defensemen, he will continue to defend the blueline
for the Hawks. During the season, he was named one of the assistant
captains, replacing one who had left the team. As a freshmen, Francis went back on the blueline and played defense for the Hawks. He received his first varsity point on December 21, 2009 in Pershing Field against Bayonne High School when he notched a pair of assists on two of Chris Peterson's goals. He had a second 2-assist game against Newton Lenape Valley High School on January 30, 2010. He finished the season with five assists. This year Francis is back on the blue line where he continues to excel. On December 30, 2010, in the Rich Korpi Rink against Morris Hills, Francis had a career high four assists as the Hawks won the bronze medal of the Bayonne Holiday Tournament. Francis scored his first varsity goal on January 3, 2011 at the Charle Heger Rink at Pershing Field against Bernards High School. He scored his second goal on a slapshot from the point on January 27, 2011 in Chill Out Arena against Newton/Lenape Valley. His third goal came against Xavier High on February 9 at the bayonne Rink. he matched his career high four assists in a win against Passaic Valley on February 7 at the Charle Heger Rink. Francis started playing youth hockey in the Charle Heger Rink with the Jersey City Capitals in 2000. In 2006, he moved to the Bayonne Rangers youth hockey program. Last year, he played on the Rangers Midget 16-U B team. This season, Francis moved up to the Rangers Midget U-16 A team. He is also a member of the Hudson Catholic yearbook staff and the History Club.
